It is the duty of every Muslim who follows the religion of Islam to believe in the principle of life after death. The main purpose behind this belief is related to the performance of all good deeds in this temporarily existing world and the abstinence or shunning of all evil.

Whenever a Muslim indulges upon doing a good deed that is favored by ALLAH SWT, they believe that such actions will bring bountiful benefits, if not immediately in this life, but surely in the Hereafter. At the same time, every form of evil performed will be recorded and the believer will be answerable for their actions.

This world is a temporary stay and every soul shall face the Creator and be questioned about their deeds on the Day of Judgment. For this reason, belief in life after death is an integral part for every follower of Islam.

Teachings of life after death in Islam

The religion of Islam teaches the world that every individual not only possesses a physical body but a spirit too. This spirit acts as a seed which further acts as a means of growth within a certain being. After a person dies, his spirit is raised towards a new spiritual life. And what makes up this spirit? Well all the deeds that the believer has indulged upon will shape and mould his spirit. Now this can be for the better or for the worse- all depending upon his firm beliefs and actions in this temporary existing world.

In Islam, what does the Day of Judgment mean?

Similar to the notion of everything possessing an end to its continuity, every Muslim believes that a day will come when the physical world will no longer exist. This day will be the Day of Judgment and no soul shall escape death. The world of spirits will come in full existence on this mighty day.

The world will be fully awakened and accountable for every single one of their deeds. They shall possess a body that gives full accountability of whatever they have managed to accomplish in this temporary world of theirs.

Will a believer be rewarded for his good actions and punished for his evil doing?

The answer is yes. Every soul shall taste death and then be raised from the graves on the Day of Judgment for their accountability in this world. Those whose good deeds are greater – they shall enter Paradise or the Heavens while those whose evil doings are greater- they shall be thrown in the Hell Fire.
